SUMMARY:International Summer School in Sports Sciences (SHS)
DESCRIPTION:Organised during ten years at the university of Copenhagen\, th
e International Summer School for young researchers takes place in Paris s
ince 2016. For the third time\, the university Paris-Est hosts students an
d teachers from all over the world for a summer school based on exchanges
between scholars. \n\nAims and topic \n\nThe Summer School 2018 is dedicat
ed to young researchers in human and social sciences whose work on all sub
ject linked to physical activity and sport. These subjects cover a broad a
rea\, which allows experts and students to share experiences and expertise
in their respective fields of research.\nDuring the last decades\, physic
al activities and sport have played an increasing role in the public disco
urse\, at least in Western countries. Sport for all and elite sport are in
the centre of public attention\, both promising benefits for individuals
and societies. Health and well-being\, education and social integration\,
entertainment\, national presentation and identity are some of the assets
which are currently discussed in connection with physical activities and s
port. However\, it is an open question if and under what conditions sport
can meet these expectations. Here\, it has to be taken into consideration
that sport has many faces and that sport cultures differ dependent on trad
itions and current political\, economic and social situations in the vario
us countries and regions.\nThe Summer School provides a space to share inf
ormation on research\, theories and methods as well as to exchange ideas a
nd knowledge about current tendencies and “hot issues” in the multiple
arenas of physical activities and sports.\nThe Summer School will provide
a forum\, which enables communication\, networks and cooperation among th
e participants\, students as well as lecturers.\nThe course is addressed t
o PhD students and young researchers and intends to support them in their
scientific work. It offers students the opportunity of acquiring new knowl
edge\, of presenting their research\, of discussing problems\, of obtainin
g advice from experts and of building up networks. It is intended to help
young researchers to become integrated into the scientific community.\n\n
Organisation \n\nIn keynote lectures\, experts will address important ques
tions\, new approaches\, problems and strategies of research\, current tre
nds and major issues in the area of sport ideologies\, policies and practi
ces. They will also be available for discussions and individual supervisio
n.\nIn addition\, there will be workshops and panel discussions on relevan
t themes. All students will have the opportunity to present their own proj
ects and get feedback from experts and other students.\nThe Summer School
will take place in collaboration with the International Societies for Spor
 t History (ISHPES).\n\nMore information on  http://acp.u-pem.fr/summer-s
